Library consultation – Why have Labour arranged it on a Wednesday when the Library is closed?

What is the future for The Blue Anchor Library?

It’s no secret that The Library at The Blue is always closed on Wednesdays…..

Except when the labour Council wants to consult about the Library’s future:

Success at end of battle for youth centre on Old Kent Road

We finally heard the announcement that Southwark are planning to open Success House Youth Centre.
Michael Bukola & I went to The Astley & Coopers Tenants meeting last night, and heard Pat Shelley – Head of Youth Services say he was committed to opening the centre on 1st September.
There have been years of delay, as Southwark and Peabody argued about the costs of running the building.

I know all politicians love to take credit for other people’s effort,
but I have been championing this since I was elected!
I’m well pleased – let me know if you want to come along to the opening!

Stevenson Crescent

Once again  I went to Stevenson Crescent, and once again there are  problems with dumping.
Locals have contacted me about the reduction of rubbish collection from weekly to every fortnight.
I will contact the Labour leader to find out exactly what they are planning for rubbish collection.

I simply don’t understand why Southwark Council and the Housing Associations can’t get on top of the dumping problem
.
I will try contacting them again to find out what they are up too!

SLP letter – safe our cleaner Greener Safer grants

The South London Press published my letter following on from the Mural unveiling last week.
Labour really need to reinstate the Bermondsey Community Council grants.

standing up for local people involves many things, including making everyone aware of what is going on.

Burgess park Shutdown

Not sure why the council has chosen to close 70% of the park for the next nine months.
I’m sure they will tell me it is to ‘save money’ ..
Meanwhile local residents are worrying about the loss to local young people, and the impact their loss of amenity will have on others.

70% of Burgess Park will be shut down for nine months – until March next year

Blue Mural unveiled

Well done to everyone who helped getting the mural finished.
There was a nice little picture of Katie, and Vinnie who got it done, and Mick, a market stall holder at The Blue,
as well as a couple of glory seekers, who arrived just in time for the photographs:

Thanks to everyone who helped get it done, including the chair of Bermondsey Community Council Cllr Linda Manchester who made sure the money was available.

Petition to Stop Unfair tickets at The Blue, Southwark Park Road SE16

The shop keepers at The Blue are collecting signatures.
They are just FED UP with the way the council are issuing parking fines.
The council are sucking money out of car users, and the businesses are suffering.

We spent thousands of pound trying to make the Blue a nice place to shop,
Now the Labour council are making it a no-go zone.

Please sign up if you are in the shops down The Blue

Cameras at The Blue

NOW, this could be a good thing, OR, this could be a bad thing……
Either these cameras are here to monitor antisocial behaviour, in which case we welcome them.
OR……
They are here to prepare evidence for parking tickets – In which case they are upsetting a whole load of people.

Either way – Local councillors would like to  be informed, as just about everyone at The Blue keeps asking about them.
