Loads of people in Bermondsey will die early, and suffer during their lives from illnesses related to poor nutrition.
Local shops offer processesd food high in fat, salt and sugar, really cheap.

The true cost of these products is reflected by the heath costs, to individuals and the community.
The products above cost less than a kilogram of fresh vegetables from the stall at The Market Place.
How can we encourage people to buy and eat healthy when stores offer cheap products like these?
The food business lobby is enormous, paying millions of pounds in countries across the world to
stop governments taking any action to regulate their sales.
Selling junk food, and sugary drinks to children is plain nasty.
Voluntary agreements are obviously not working, it is time for supermarkets and producers to face up to the fact that they are killing us.

The Blue mural was damaged last week, when a vandal set fire to bin.
I have been in touch with officers to get it patched up.

We didn’t let the rain stop us from having a good time on Saturday.

I’ve been trying for some time now to get the TV licensing people
to approve one communal licence for the residents of The Rock Grove Way Sheltered Housing,
where we hold our regular Satuday surgeries.
They have been demanding a floor plan of the flats,
which, the council (who own the place) don’t have.
I got an email this week saying there has finally been a break through,
and our older residents will not have to pay £145 to watch Eastenders!

Persistance pays!

I was in Paterson Park over the weekend, looking at this damage done to the retaining slats.
I’ve asked the parks department to fix it, let’s see what they come up with.
I’d like to see some ‘community payback’ type of scheme to fix it.
