Tree at Brodie House, and on other estates
The London Plane in The Astley and Coopers Estate is a fine specimen.
However, it needs a trim from time to time

Residents have asked if it can be cut back, as their homes are dark all day long.
I have asked the tree department to cut it down.
Other trees are getting trimmed in February, maybe they can add this one?

Lib Dem Conference in Birmingham
I am away this week, working to keep up to date with Lib-dem policy,
and making sure we keep Bermondsey Liberal.
I am paying for the conference with my own money – staying at a friend’s flat.
Southwark Council is not paying for any expenses or travel for me.
I am back on Thursday, I have been taking calls, and emails,
and I am processing casework via phone and email while I am here.

Fly tipping – Who pays?
I met some landscape contractors employed by Hyde Housing.
They only clear up land owned by Hyde Housing.

This is on land belonging to Hexagon Housing Association.
I will be asking the council to either instruct them to clear it up,
or charge them for the clearing.
Please let me know if you have a solution to this problem.

£120,000 for a roof terrace? – no thanks !
I chaired the Bermondsey Community Council planning meeting last night.
The last item was to spend £120,000 on converting the roof of the Tooley Street offices into a terrace for ‘dignitaries and guests’
My colleagues who were sitting on the committee were concerned that there might be overlooking and disturbance to neighbours.
It emerged that the cost of fitting lights, and raising the balcony surround was costed at £120,000
I was pleased that no-one on the committee voted for granting the conversion.

It is reported here on the SE1 website.
