Some more good news for South Bermondsey.

The new Connect 2 bridge is set to be opened on Friday
There will be an opening event on Friday 19th April 2013 at 2-3pm at the Stubbs Drive end.

It seems like only yesterday that Barry Mason proposed the idea years ago, at a community council meeting in 2003!

I’m shocked at just what a complete mess Southwark Council made of the Bail Hostel debacle.
Back in 2010 council staff were telling the administration to move Ellison House.
In January 2013 Southwark announced they were planning on building a 30 room bedsit bail hostel
at the junction of Rotherhithe New Road, and the Old Kent Road.
Bermondsey deserves better than that.
The Old Kent Road needs jobs, homes,

A Positive Vision for a Sustainable Future.

The people of Bermondsey need councillors who they can trust,
Who listen to local people and support them,
We’ve all been let done so badly by the Labour administration.

Bermondsey People deserve to be treated better.

The only thing that is transparent is that no-one believes them anymore.

Dulwich resident condems Lib-Dem Councillor for supporting Bermondsey people.

Dulwich resident and former Labour Councillor Les Alden wrote to Southwark News condemning me
for supporting South Bermondsey residents:

Southwark’s ruling Labour group have had years to sort it out.
It’s a crying shame that their mismanagement of this affair has wound up the local community,
and caused so much fear and anger.

I want to see a sustainable future for The Old Kent Road,
Labour’s hostel plans will prevent investment here for generations

It’s sad that Labour are using a Dulwich resident to write to the local paper,
surely there must be a Labour supporter in South Bermondsey who could have signed their letter?
Maybe next week?

Do we need another take-away on Southwark Park Road?

There are plans to convert ‘Roses’ at 65 Southwark Park Road to a fast food restaurant.

Southwark Council has received an application for;

“Change of use of ground floor shop to hot food take-away (A5 class use)
with installation of extraction flue system to rear
new proposed opening hours: Sunday to Wednesday 11:00 to 23:00, Thursday to Saturday 11:00 to 00:00.”

Rennie Estate Action Day

Southwark organised an ‘Action Day’ for residents of The Rennie Estate

Michael, Paul & I went, and met with local residents, to talk through local issues,
including housing repairs, anti-social behaviour and changes to housing benefit rules
I even had my blood pressure tested !

I’ve noticed lots of places around South Bermondsey are being used to dump rubbish.
This is in Lynton Road,

I meeting with a council officer from the refuse department, to discuss this type of thing.
