Southwark Nurseries – What’s wrong with Labour?

by Graham Neale on 10 July, 2012

It’s been quite a week.

I presented a motion to  Southwark’s Councillors at Wednesday’s Council Assembly.

The Labour Councillors voted it down.

All the Labour Councillors voted to delete the motion which demanding the nurseries be saved.
They used their majority to delete it completely, and replace it with their own words.

Their motion called me a liar,
saying Lib-Dem Councillors were fronting the Save our Nurseries Campaign.
I said I didn’t mind being called names, but the parents deserved better.

The Save our Nurseries Campaign got the front page headlines on the SLP today

The paper focused on the management of the nurseries.
I was pleased that the piece concentrated on the story, and not the personalities.
The campaign was conceived by the parents, and is managed by the parents.
We are proud of the help we have offered them, and we want them to succeed,
but Southwark’s Labour Councillors are only fooling themselves
when they say it is ‘Just a Lib-Dem Campaign’.
