by Graham Neale on 8 November, 2012

Today’s Southwark News reports on the increase of fly-tipping in Southwark.
It comes as no surprise to many, as the piles of rubbish seem to be springing up all over the place.

The council spokesman said the way of recording dumping has changed,
which along with under-reporting in the past, has caused the three-fold increase.

Spokesman for our Environment,
I try to hold the council administration to account for waste and rubbish collection.
We’re worried that cutting the budget so sharply is making matters worse,
giving an impression that no one cares about our streets and estates.
